My Story

Fiona Stemmler comes from Toggenburg in the St. Gallen Pre-Alps. She discovered floorball at the age of 6. She began her playing career with the UHC Nesslau Sharks. It soon became clear to her that floorball was her great passion. From an early age, therefore, she set her sights on one day playing in the top Swiss league.

She discovered floorball at the age of 6. She began her playing career with the UHC Nesslau Sharks. It soon became clear to her that floorball was her great passion. From an early age, therefore, she set her sights on one day playing in the top Swiss league.

She progressed through all the junior ranks at the Sharks and was allowed to train with the women’s NLB team as early as the age of 13.  However, she was only able to obtain a licence for the NLB at the age of 16.

In the meantime, Stemmler found her way to UHC Laupen, where, during the 21/22 season, she was able to join the U17A team through a player agreement. In the following season, she was allowed to play in NLB matches, but remained part of Laupen’s U17 team.

This was followed by two further seasons on a dual licence, this time with Laupen’s U21A team and Nesslau’s NLB side. During these seasons, there was a change of position. Throughout her junior career and also during her first season with the first team, Stemmler had always played up front. Now, however, she switched to defence.

In the spring of 2025, she was promoted to the L-UPL team at UHC Laupen following injuries. A childhood dream had come true. There, she gained plenty of playing experience at the highest level and was able to take another big step forward.

After a year and a half with the first team, she moved abroad in the summer of 2026. With her transfer to the Swedish SSL club IBK Lund, Stemmler achieved another major goal.

As well as playing for her club, she was selected for the Swiss U19 national team in the summer of 2024. She was part of this team for half a year and, amongst other things, was selected to take part in the EFT in the Czech Republic, which was won by the Swiss team. The following year, she was called up to the U23 national team. In the spring of 2026, Stemmler was called up to the senior national team for the first time and was thus able to take part in her first training camps with the senior squad.

My Values

Team first

On your own, you can be fast – but together, you can go further

Determination

Big goals are achieved through many small steps

Respect

Whether a teammate, an opponent or a fellow human being: everyone deserves respect

Joy

Never forget why you started

My ‘why’ doesn’t start with a trophy, but with a feeling. Sport tells stories of perseverance, discipline and consistency. Behind every match lie countless hours of training, challenges and conscious decisions. But what really makes this journey special for me is not just the success – but the people with whom I am privileged to share it.For me, there’s hardly anything better than working toward a goal together with my team.

My reason why

I’m inspired by the meticulous work that goes into every practice and every detail. Seeing how everyone is willing to give their all for one another motivates me anew every day.

The reward isn’t just titles or victories. It’s those moments after the final buzzer when all the emotions come together and you know that every effort was worth it. Sharing a moment like that with a team is what makes it unforgettable for me.

Beyond the Game

In competitive sports, things don’t always go according to plan. A supportive environment is especially crucial at times like these. Friends and family are my greatest source of support. The time I spend with them allows me to recharge and find balance amid my performance-driven daily routine. Their support motivates me to give my best every day and to share my joy with others. For that, I am truly grateful.

After graduating from high school in 2025, I decided to take a gap year. During that year, I worked at an elementary school, where I taught 5th and 6th graders. I want to continue on this path and am therefore planning to study at the college of education. My motivation is to instill a sense of joy and curiosity in the children I have the privilege of teaching. Seeing the excitement for little things in the children’s eyes brings me joy every single time.

Like most athletes, I enjoy all kinds of physical activity. Whether I’m hiking in the mountains, riding my road bike, or swimming in the river. In addition to floorball, I practice medieval sword fighting. In this sport, two fully armored fighters duel and try to score points by landing hits. I discovered this hobby through my family, with whom I regularly attend medieval events.

For me, various types of creative activities also serve as a way to unwind. I’ve loved reading ever since I was a child. Recently, I’ve discovered a passion for painting. I also enjoy smaller craft projects like embroidery or making bracelets.

Partners and sponsors

Behind my athletic journey are people and partners who believe in me and my goals. For me, a partnership means more than just support—it’s a shared journey built on trust, mutual respect, and shared values. To continue on my athletic journey and pursue my goals, I rely on strong partners by my side.  At the same time, I want to give something back, authentically represent my partners, and let them share in my journey and experiences.
